Body Alignment Studio - Full-Body Alignment

Full-Body Alignment

The full-body alignment works to increase mobility and decrease the pain throughout the body, not just in certain parts. To get a glow stick to glow completely, it needs cracking the whole way down. It is not much different than the human body in a sense. When there’s an issue in part of the spine, it can interrupt the entire body and its functions.

Body Alignment Studio - Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue is a type of massage therapy that is used to treat chronic tension and injuries from overuse, such as tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome. Whilst some of the strokes are the same as in classic (Swedish) massage, the pace tends to be slower and pressure is applied more strongly, concentrated on problem areas. Practitioners may use their forearms, elbows, fingertips and knuckles as well as their hands in order to break-up adhesions. These bands of rigid tissue can cause pain and inflammation, and restrict movement and circulation in muscle tissue. You might have a stiff neck and upper back, lower back pain, tight legs or sore shoulders

Body Alignment Studio - Dry Needling (F.I.D.N)

Dry Needling (F.I.D.N)

Dry needling is the use of solid filiform needles which are very thin (2.25mm in diameter) to penetrate the skin and underlying tissues to manage pain, tension or dysfunction of muscles to reduce pain and improve movement. The insertion of the needle is shown to stimulate the body’s natural healing process and can be used on muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments.

Handsome man at spa resort receives hot stone massage. Hot stone massage therapy using smooth, flat, heated stones

Hot Stone Massage

The Hot stones are basalt. This is igneous, volcanic rock that can be found all over the world. It is mainly pyroxene and plagioclase feldspar. The texture is so fine these individual minerals are rarely seen, basalt varies from grey with a greenish tinge to almost black. They can differ immensely in texture, colour and composition depending on their origin, region and mineralogy. Basalt is found on the exterior of a volcano. It is formed from the hot lava that spills out of the volcano as it erupts. Over the years they are exposed to the minerals together forming a concentrated mass of minerals and crystals. The heat of the rocks causes muscles to relax, thus allowing the therapist to apply deeper, more precise pressure if desired or necessary. The heat contained in the rocks also relaxes nerves, and may improve chakra flow if placed on chakra centres on the body.

Thai Massage

Also know as Thai Yoga Massage, or informally as “ the lazy person’s yoga ” combines assisted yoga with acupressure techniques. The therapist will incorporate yogic stretching movements as they knead and press muscles along the body’s energy lines. Thai massage combines the principles of acupressure whereby the Sen is stimulated, which is said to balance the energy system in the body. The passive stretching can also help to open up the body which can help increase flexibility and relieve tension within the joints and the muscles. A Thai Massage treatment typically begins at the feet with the client lying face down and is more energetic and rigorous than your usual massage. The therapist will also often use their hands knee and feet to apply pressure, and the treatment usually is done through although oils and lotions can sometimes be used if requested.

Traditional Thai Massage

In a traditional Thai massage, practitioners use their hands, thumbs, elbows, forearms, and sometimes even their feet to reduce tension in your muscles. Traditional Thai massage uses no oils or lotions. The recipient remains clothed during treatment. There is constant body contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. Thai massage is based on the idea that energy moves through your body along predictable lines or pathways known as sens.

Close-up of young woman having reflexology

Foot Reflexology

Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medical practice involving the application of pressure to specific points on the feet, ears, and hands. This is done using thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a pseudoscientific system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work on the feet and hands causes a physical change to the supposedly related areas of the body. There is no convincing scientific evidence that reflexology is effective for any medical condition

Dry-Cupping

Dry Cupping

During massage cupping, silicone cups glide over the body with the use of different typer of oils and circular/long movements. Massage cupping has been used for centuries and is documented in even the oldest records of traditional Chinese medicine. Massage cupping is often referred to as the “ opposite” of traditional massage therapy. Regular massages involve the application of downward pressure. This can be done by placing hot stones on the patient’s skin, or even standing on their muscles, to release tension, as pressure is being forced upward into the cups. However, both have the same relaxing effect and can be used to destress the body.
